Every person at the College is required to have a laptop computer. Our preferred student laptop is a Macbook, however we allow Windows BYOD devices. The student population at the College is predominately using Macbook Air and Pro, hence the support systems at the College are largely geared to providing the best experience with these devices. We have trained staff and specialist systems to install software, fix all kinds of software issues and offer various backup and restore options on Macbooks

Please note that you are welcome to purchase a Macbook from any supplier and receive the same level of support from the College Information Services Department. The 13 inch model, with 3 year warranty, a plastic hard cover and insurance is the school’s recommended model. Please note that when comparing prices, most retailers ship the Macbook with a one year warranty, a 3 year education warranty costs around $250 depending on the retailer.
Regarding insurance, it is highly recommended and it is available via Computers Now to cover against breakages, or you may wish to include the Macbook to your existing home and contents insurance which will cover the device against theft.
Your daughter is welcome to use any BYOD computer that meets the minimum standards. Please note that these computers are provided with minimal technical support. A BYOD device will be provided with wireless access to the network which enables them to access the College systems and the internet. The minimum operating specifications are as follows:
- Windows 7 or 8
- Wireless N or better
- 4gb RAM
- 50 GB free for software loading
- Protective bag
The College supplies all the applications like Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud and anti-virus software. The laptop should preferably be under warranty to ensure a quick repair.
