Fiji Touch Football Tour On Saturday 16 November, the Stella Fiji Touch team boarded the plane in the early hours of the morning, headed to Suva for 6 days of touch football and fun!
The trip began with a swim on the coral coast with lots of children from a local village. It was a great way to start a great week, where the Stella girls had many chances to interact with the local people of Fiji. Aside from lots of touch football, the team was able to visit local schools, swim in waterfalls, snorkel at beautiful tropical reefs and spend time in local villages. We even got to meet the World Champion Fijian Rugby 7s team! The highlight for the team was spending time with the local Fijians and making a difference to the people that they met. The Fijians were so welcoming and invited us into their schools and villages. We were even treated to some beautiful singing and traditional rituals. It was very rewarding to donate many gifts to the schools, villages and touch football teams. They were so happy to receive the many gifts that Stella could leave with them! Thank you to everyone who donated gifts for this cause.
The touch football was fantastic. The Stella team has been training hard for many weeks, so we were ready to face teams that were much older and bigger than us. We were amazed by the speed and skill of the Fijian teams. The competition got harder as the week went on, so we were very happy to come away from the week undefeated. It was a great experience for both the Stella team and the Fijian players.
A big thank you to our coach Tatum who worked so well with the girls all week. Well done to all of the girls who were an outstanding group! They have created great memories and great friendships that will last forever.
