Meet our International Program Officer

Jiani Chen, the College International Program Officer and Marketing Manager, has come full circle. She began her overseas student journey at Stella Maris in Year 10 at the age of fourteen. After school she progressed to the University of New South Wales, undertaking a Bachelor of Commerce with major studies in marketing, accounting and tourism. On the completion of her degree, the College was delighted to invite her back as a member of staff. Jiani was always a top performing student, both at school and at university, culminating in her being awarded the Minister’s Award for Excellence in Tourism Studies whilst at university.

学校的市场部经理和国际学生项 目主管，陈佳妮, 在她年仅14岁的时候独自一人前往梦寐以求的悉尼开始她的留 学生涯。从高中到大学，凭着她顽强拼搏的精神，一直是个表现出色的学生，也获得了许多的奖项，并且包括一个州级的奖项。以优秀成绩毕业的她，经过反复思考 并没有选择大公司就职，反而回到了自己的母校担任国际学生招生主管，她认为这样不仅为她的留学生涯画上了圆满的句点，而且把她所经历的学到的东西再传承下 去。

I lived with the same Australian family for nearly ten years and I was always included in their family picnics, Christmas gatherings and all the other aspects of their everyday life. From them, I learnt how to become a real Aussie! My independence and self-discipline has improved so much since I came to Australia. I learned how to deal with the bank and manage my finances, as well as how to seek help for medical and other matters. I decided to come back to my old school because of my passionate belief in the benefits of studying in Australia for young international students. I want to help them to study and live in Sydney comfortably and problem-free because I understand their feelings of homesickness and other struggles.” – Ms Jiani Chen.

“在 留学生涯当中，应当属高中阶段最让人记忆犹新。老师们的专业素养和对教学的热诚让我很是喜欢，对国际学生也是倍加关注。 我和澳洲的住家一共在一起住了10年，第一家也是仅此一家。她们经常邀请我去参加他们的家庭活动，例如：圣诞聚餐，复活节野餐等等，我从和他们每天生活的 点点滴滴细节当中学会了怎样当一个存真的澳洲人。我的独立和自律也是从我来到澳洲之后慢慢锻炼出来的。 独自一人在澳洲生活，你会学习到怎样去银行理财，或者自己去诊所看病等等。我决定回到我的母校是因为我很想把自己的生活学习经历分享给新来的小留学生们， 同时给予她们在心理上和生活上正确的引导，帮她们顺利度过初到澳洲所感受到的孤独和念家。”
