On Thursday our Year 10 girls spent the morning with Danielle Miller as part of Enlighten Education’s work with Women’s Community Shelters Walk the Talk Program. This is what Danielle had to say on her Facebook post about our beautiful Year 10s…
“Today was just MASSIVE. I had the enormous privilege of working with 170 Year 10 girls as part of Enlighten Education’s work with Women’s Community Shelters Walk The Talk program. I talked to the girls about healthy relationships, gender equity, their capacity to be change -makers – then I invited them to adopt their local refuge, Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter.
We laughed, we cried ( there were a LOT of tears. In fact, at one point, this incredible young woman just burst out in tears and told us all it was just as she felt so happy and loved 😭).
To say these girls enjoyed the day would be an understatement. 100% rated it as either Very Good or Excellent. 100% said they’d highly recommend the program to other schools. The comments on their evaluation forms are extraordinary ( shared a few favourites here). And, what’s more, all 170 of them lined up to hug me afterwards (and then we cried some more).
They’ve already decided to start sewing new cushions and curtains for the refuge, as these are needed.
These brilliant young women don’t want to just walk the talk, they want to gallop with it! ❤️”
