This is a world of technology, short on time, starved for reflection. Benedictine leisure is the gift of reflection, meant to bring wisdom and action together. It provides the space we need to begin again (Sr Joan Chittister, 2011).
Year 10 have finished up the term with space to reflect on the direction of their lives and the impact of their personal choices. Congratulations to Year 10 for embracing all experiences at retreat and having an openness to learn from the wisdom of Catholic values to develop into more compassionate and mindful humans.
Year 10 retreat overall was an experience that none of us will ever forget. Not only did we learn about respecting each other and ourselves but also how to properly appreciate the gifts we are given. Personally, my favourite experience was writing letters to our Year 12 selves, this encouraged us to truly understand our dreams and wants in life. Phoebe
Year 10 Retreat gave us the opportunity to relax and reset our compasses as me move further into Year 10. The activities we participated in brought our PCs and Year closer together. The two days allowed us to escape the stress of everyday school and learn skills to practice focusing on our overall wellbeing. Ms Collins did a great job organising this retreat and we are very grateful that she presented us with an amazing two days. Milly
Year 10 retreat was fun filled and I’ve gained so many new, close friends from the great experience! Olivia
My favourite part of retreat was the ‘toast to change’. Sharing this special moment with our friends and PC teachers showed how similar we all are and how supportive of each other we can be if only we open up about our difficulties. Tani
Year 10 Retreat was very rewarding. I enjoyed spending time with friends and getting to know myself and others better. The teachers ran it well and allowed us to connect emotionally. Elena
Retreat gave us a break from daily stress of school, allowing us to focus on personal mindfulness and headspace. It was beneficial in bringing together our Year group and support each other moving forward in our lives. Isabella
The experience allowed me to bond with my peers on a deeper level. I learned about their personal struggles. I discovered new things about them. Holly
