We had six students represent the College in the Independent Girls’ School Association’s annual ‘Festival of Speech’, which was recently held virtually on Friday night and Saturday morning. Ruby and Samantha from Year 9 entered the Junior Poetry and Readings sections respectively, while Amelie (Year 8), Audrey, Ava and Amelia (all Year 9) competed as our Junior Debating Team. Congratulations to Samantha who was a Top 10 finalist out of twenty-one schools, and to the debaters for reaching the quarter finals! Well done to all participants on their outstanding enthusiasm for the event! Here are the topics from the event. Have a family debate at home!
- That there should be a minister for young people in cabinet.
- That we should teach current affairs instead of history.
- That we prefer social media activism over physical protests.
