Festival of Speech

POSTED BY: John Christensen

Stella participated in two sections of the AHIGS Virtual Festival of Speech – Current Affairs and Religious and Ethical Questions. The students in Religious and Ethical Questions were Jessica D, Olivia L and Josephine K. The students in the Current Affairs section were Bronte C, Aliya G and Laura S.

“The Festival of Speech was a great opportunity to practise our public speaking and critical thinking skills, as well as giving us insight into the religious and ethical consequences of ‘cancel culture’. We were incredibly lucky to be granted the chance to learn how to engage critically with relevant social issues and how they related to our society, whilst also forming our own opinions and offering different perspectives on these issues. Doing the Festival online was a strange occurrence, but we were grateful to still be able to partake in these experiences even in these complicated times.”
