“My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us;
the world is full of it, and you simply take as much as you require.”
– Edward Elgar
From Year 7 to Year 12 Stella Maris musicians mature into seasoned performers. Some of the opportunities for public performance include:

Senior Band is our most prestigious ensemble for musicians of approximately AMEB Grade 4 and above. Senior Band girls tackle challenging repertoire from contemporary to the classics, extending their musicality and ensemble performance skills. This band performs at College events, participates in eisteddfods and competitions and represents the College at community events. At select times it also embarks on regional and international music tours, most recently to New York.
No experience necessary. We have violin, viola, cello and double bass available.
For more experienced string players.
Junior Music Club
The aim of the Music Club is to continue practicing instruments the students are learning in class and get some extra experience playing bass, guitar, ukulele, keyboard or drums.
This group is aimed at beginner musicians who have been playing for 1 or 2 years and have Grade 1 or 2 AMEB or who have not done any grades. In this Ensemble we aim to build confidence and improve sight reading and performance skills. There is no audition.
Vocal Ensemble is open to all singers, no audition required. We sing at our College events and Masses. The repertoire includes pop, musical theatre and choral.
Stella Girls are encouraged to learn an instrument with one of our private tutors or with their own tutor out of school hours. The College is able to source highly qualified tutors for any instrument. The current choices are listed below but change from year to year according to demand.
